IPL Treatment FAQ
IPL Treatment FAQ's

What is IPL with the Stellar M22?
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) with the Stellar M22 is a powerful light-based treatment that targets pigmentation, sun damage, redness, broken capillaries, and uneven skin tone — all with little to no downtime.
How does it work?
The Stellar M22 uses controlled light pulses that target pigment and blood vessels beneath the skin. Pigment may darken initially and then flake off the skin while blood vessels are gradually broken down and absorbed by the body, resulting in clearer, more even skin.
Is the treatment painful?
Most patients feel a quick, warm snapping sensation (like a rubber band). The Stellar M22 has a cooling system that makes it much more comfortable than older IPL systems.
Is IPL safe for all skin tones?
IPL works best for lighter to medium skin tones (Fitzpatrick I–IV). If you have a darker skin tone, we’ll recommend other safe and effective treatments for your skin type.
How many treatments will I need?
For optimal results, we typically recommend 3–5 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart. Some patients see visible improvement even after just one.
How long does a treatment take?
Sessions typically last between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the area being treated.
What skin concerns does IPL treat?
The Stellar M22 IPL is effective for: Sunspots / age spots, Freckles, Redness and rosacea, Broken capillaries, Uneven tone, Acne and acne-related pigmentation, Dull skin.
Is it the same as a laser?
Not exactly. IPL uses broad-spectrum light, while lasers use a single wavelength. The Stellar M22 offers multiple filters for precise targeting, making it one of the most advanced IPL devices available today.
When will I see results?
You may notice a brighter, more even skin tone within a week. Pigmentation, redness, and texture improve gradually over several treatments.
Can IPL be combined with other treatments?
Yes! IPL pairs beautifully with ResurFX (for texture), chemical peels, or microneedling for a full-spectrum skin renewal plan.
How should I prep before treatment?
Avoid sun exposure and tanning for 2 weeks prior and stop using any topical retinoids for 3 days prior. Always wear sunscreen — before and after!
What’s the downtime like?
IPL has minimal downtime. After treatment, brown spots may darken (this is normal!) and flake off over 7–10 days. Redness usually fades within a few hours to 1–2 days.
